A week of anticipation

Well, the skies were clear this weekend in Texas which is a welcome change from the way things have been the past few weeks. We are actually already ahead of our rainfall pace for the year. I love the late Spring/early Summer stormy weather down here, but this is getting a bit ridiculous even for me. We are just over 30" of rain in the last three weeks at my house (of course 21" of that came in one day) and I'm tired of being flooded in. Luckily when it quits raining here it gets hot and dries out in a hurry so we were able to hit the links for some really horrible, really enjoyable golf yesterday. Guess we should enjoy it while we can because it's supposed to start raining again tomorrow. I hope it holds off a bit because we're supposed to toob the river this weekend. It'd be nice if the river weren't at flood stage when we did it.

You want a thought that will keep you glowing all week long and help push you through the work week?? You should come Toob the Guadalupe River one time. Just once and you'll be hooked. 4-6 hours of glorious sunshine floating in a toob, drinking beer, taking jello shots, meeting (and sometimes 'greeting') fellow toobers... Ahhh... There's nothing like it. That's where we'll be headed on Friday. Gruene, TX baby! A big chicken fried steak with about 20 Shiner Blonde's (that's a beer, not a girl) to wash it down, followed by some great live music by Reckless Kelly. Then it's time to stumble back to the hotel for some drinking/fumbling/groping/sleeping?, before it's off to the river on Saturday morning. Can't go too early though. The river is damn cold so you've gotta let the sun come up a little. Then the party is really on. The only real X factor is how far down river will you make it before the radio takes a dive into el agua. When it does, you better hope you haven't been too obnoxious all day because you'll have to hook up to another group of toobers with a radio or you are shit out of luck and will have to entertain yourself.

Damn this is a great time to be in Texas. What a week this is gonna be.

Later...
